Summer Tan: Do You Have Yours?

The only thing worse than not having the body you want for swim suit season, is not having the tan you want or paying too much for it. Regardless of your definition of “tan” there is a cheap and easy way to get there in a designer fashion.

Having a tan, even just a slight base tan will change your whole outlook on heading to the pool. Not to mention you won’t be blinding innocent by standers. Tanning has come such a long way in the past ten years. Tanning beds have become more advanced and tanning lotions have changed the industry.

In-Door Tanning Basics

Indoor tanning has some negative effects. The media has certainly blown each of them out of the water, but so does processed food, the air you breathe, cell phones and micro waved food.

The majority of the negative effects are a result of over use (like anything). But, there are also some benefits. The body gets a very vital nutrient, vitamin D, from UV rays, rather natural or artificial.

You can avoid frequent visits and still get deep, rich color by implementing a tanning lotion. Australian Gold, Designer Skin and Hoss Sauce each provide some of the best formulas on the market today!

There are two different types of tanning lotions:

  1. Tinglers-helps increase blood circulation, thus improving the oxygenation of your skin cells. The increased level of oxygen helps accelerate your tan.
  2. Bronzers-There are two different types of bronzers:
  • Cosmetic Bronzer – This is a bronzer that acts much like a make-up, giving you immediate color once applied, allowing your natural tan to develop over the next few hours. The bronzer will ultimately wash off.
  • DHA Bronzer – DHA is a colorless chemical that is found in self-tanners. DHA is also found in many indoor tanning lotions. DHA, when applied to your skin will start to turn your skin brown in about 2-3 hours.
(Both types of bronzers are very effective in helping you achieve your best looking tan.)

Within each of the above formulas, manufactures add various moisturizers, firming complexes and tan extenders to maximize your tanning experience, tan life and skin’s appearance. There are even lotions with Stay Fresh technology that are designed to make sure you don’t smell like a typical tanning session.

Industry Leaders

Australian Gold: For over 20 years, Australian Gold® brand has continually produced lotions with superior bronzing power, advanced skincare and unbeatable results. Their Accelerator lotion continues to be the number one seller in the industry. New technologies such as DermaDark® blend keep Australian Gold in the forefront of the industry as one of the most recognized brands in indoor tanning.

Designer Skin: Designer Skin’s prevailing philosophy is “Nutrition for the Skin” and this mantra drives every aspect of their product development. Designer Skin’s phenomenal line of dark tanning formulas provide the ultimate in skin nutrition through the use of advanced skincare ingredients and superior formulations. They work by two standards: Exceptional skincare and exceptional color.

Hoss Sauce: An industry leader in product development and refinement and continues to market the highest-quality products. They provide an array of quality lotions that help kick-start a tan as well as advanced lotions that help clients burst through any tanning plateau. Tanners won’t find better products that are more extremely advanced in formulation and manufactured with the highest-quality ingredients than those developed by Hoss Sauce.

It seems as though tanning lotions are always changing, and each one has a new patented product that is added to make it better than the rest. But what are all these patents? Today I want to discuss two NEW products brought to you by Swedish Beauty. These two innovative products are called Dark Escape and Charisma. I know the names might be a little funny- but you’ve got to admit, it grabs your attention!

Charisma is an ultra advanced bronzer; it combines DermaDark with two advanced bio-engineered bronzers, which provides a streak free, deep dark tan. DermaDark one of the key ingredients in this product allows you to get a great dark tan without having any streak marks when cleaning it off. It also states that it will give color up to 8 DAYS!

The DHA Bronzing system, as many of you already know, works well for those looking to get an instant tan. With Dark Escape you get DHA combined with walnut extract, to help you get the immediate tan that you desire. Along with the deep tanning that this product offers, it will help get your skin nice in tight, back like it used to be. Swedish Beauty offers a unique proprietary blend that will help get your skin back to its youth. The final key ingredient is the Tissue Respiratory Factor also known as TRF. This product was shown, in one study, to help heal wounds. Basically meaning this will help your skin from the damage that it has already gone through and keeps it young looking- Just the way you like it!

Swedish Beauty is coming out with new and improved formulas to help you reach your tanning goals. Give your skin what it needs, remember the skin you have is all you get, treat it with the best products that you can find.

Does this tan make me look thin?

With all the bad press about tanning, My Nutrition World wanted to bring you some of the benefits. Tanning indoors allows you to control the amount of exposure, lessening your chance of burning, while building a ‘base tan’ to help you from frying in the natural sun.

Having a glowing tan not only makes people feel good, but it helps them look healthier, and have a thinner, fit appearance. Which are reasons why people in photo shoots and fitness magazines always look so tan.

While over-exposure can be harmful, the body gets a very vital nutrient, vitamin D, from UV rays, rather natural or artificial. Vitamin D deficiencies are responsible for a variety of health problems including osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.

In addition to strengthening bones, vitamin D is also a mainstay for preventing several types of cancer and assists in the relief of other troubling health problems including:

1. Fibromyalgia
2. High Blood Pressure
3. Breast Cancer
4. Prostate Cancer
5. Colon Cancer
6. Depression
7. Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes
8. Rheumatoid Arthritis (and other forms of arthritis)
9. PMS
10. Skin Conditions (i.e. Psoriasis, Eczema, and Acne)

Tanning indoors offers individuals the ability to control and maintain a golden tan. A little exposure can go a lot further with the use of tanning products designed to accelerate and maintain a beautiful tan.

Some products like Risque Ritual and Frankly Scarlet offer a tingle factor so you can feel the product at work along with bronzing elements to help you reach that perfect tan. Not all products with bronzers have tinglers, some offer cooling effects like Iced Creme. There is even No Worries, a product with StayFresh Technology, to let you tan and go back to work without your skin smelling like a tanning bed. Products like Sheer Elements cater to hydrating your skin while nurturing amazing color.

Utilizing some common sense and moderation will help you limit some of the risks and enjoy a beautiful golden tan.

Summer Fit Abs

The summer is right around the corner and all the guys are looking for a way to get there six pack after it’s been in hibernation for the winter. There are a few key things to look at to get these abs back as quickly as possible and possibly better than they were last summer. First we need to look at the meals, kind of a no brainer but important to remember; Secondly the actual exercises and lastly how to make your abs seem bigger than they appear.

So the holidays are over, its time to put down the TV and turkey drum stick and head to the grocery store to prepare you for the upcoming summer months. First we need protein; the most important type of protein is lean. Lean protein consists of Chicken and Fish, this protein is easy for your body to break down and has little fat. This means its time to start making tuna fish salad (with olive oil of course!). Luckily you can also grill Tilapia and Chicken and eat that. Some good veggies to start eating would be Broccoli and Bell peppers. These veggies help block bad estrogen in our bodies to help build more lean muscle. For some good cards start munching on Sweet potatoes, not sweet potato fries, sweet potatoes baked.

Next on the to do list is hitting up the gym. Know whether you have been procrastinating up to this point or going everyday, it is important to keep in mind that your abs you have to always be changing it up. This basically means that one day do core stabilization workouts and the next do resisted. A good way of changing things up without having to affect your workout to much would be intertwine in ab exercises in-between. So if you are doing pull-ups, super set it with leg raises as you are hanging from the bar. Or if you are doing squats one day super set it with balance board squats. Be creative. Remember to always surprise your abs!

Lastly, when you are the peak of your condition you want to have that nice smooth tan to help define all the hard work that you put in. you can get tanning gel for inside or outside, or your can get a brush on tan. Either way these methods will be helpful in exposing your awesome abs.

Indoor Tanning Beds Have Their Benefits

There is always a ton of information on why a person should not overuse a indoor tanning bed, but rarely do you see or read information on the benefits of tanning beds.  Certainly having a great tan makes one feel better and I personally think feeling good about yourself is important to your health.  As  winter end and summer approaches, people will begin to venture outdoors again, and most of these people have not had direct sunlight on their skin in 6 months. So the first thing they do is expose as much skin as possible to the sun. This is in turn gets them a sunburn and a sunburn is far much worse for your skin than a suntan. Some of the wiser tanners visit the local tanning salon to establish a base tan so when they do go outdoors in the sun they do not burn, or to develop a deep dark tan that looks as if they just came back from a Florida Beach Vacation.

There are others who have a particular reason for wanting a tan.  These reasons may be a wedding which almost always take place in the spring and summer, a graduation, spring break,  modeling  jobs, public speaking, the list goes on and on.

Getting a tan is the #1 benefit most people think of when the visit a tanning salon, but there are other benefits of tanning beds that many may not know about.  For example, scientific research has shown that exposure to ultraviolet rays, UV rays actually helps the body create a natural supply of Vitamin D. Since many diseases are linked directly to Vitamin D deficiencies which include osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, using a tanning bed to increase these vitamin levels is a true benefit to ones health.  Vitamin D is also essential to strengthening bone, and plays an important role in  the prevention of many forms of cancer including;  prostate, colon, and breast cancer.

Some people use indoor tanning beds simply for the convenience.  If you hapen to live in an area where the sun doesn’t shine that often, the use of a tanning bed is almost a neccessity . In this situation, a tanning bed can be a substitutte for the lack of sunlight. Most beds emit from 50% to 100% the UV rays over what the sun produces, so tanners should be responsible about the amount of time spent in the bed as well as the frequency of use.

The number of men versus women who use indoor tanning beds is just about the same, and most people will tell you that when they have a good tan, they feel better, look healthier, and have a thinner, fit appearance. While there are risks associated with tanning beds, the fact remains that people feel better when they have a tan. There are millions of things that we as humans ingage in that may or may not be good for us but because we like it we do it. For that reason, indoor tanning continues to be a popular solution. In fact, more than 50% of people who enjoy indoor tanning say that they actually use this form of tanning as a means of controlling how much exposure to the sun they get. In other words, they can determine the amount of UV rays by choosing the schedule time in the “sun.” If you are interested in tanning indoors, just remember that along with several valid benefits there are also risk factors to consider. UV rays are UV rays whether they come from the sun or a tanning bed. Therefore, the amount received must be limited to avoid damaging the skin and eyes. The use of googles and tanning lotions can protect your eyes and keep your skin looking young while tanning. Tanning lotions can reduce the amount of tanning time by giving you a deep dark tan faster and helping it last longer as well.
